Piedmont Highlanders (Piedmont, CA) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Alameda Hornets (Alameda, CA), 53-50 in a league bout.

With the victory, Piedmont upgrades its record to 12-3 on the campaign. The Highlanders travel to Lincoln (Stockton, CA) to play the Trojans in a non-league bout on Saturday, January 20. The Trojans come into the bout with a record of 16-4. Lincoln lost 59-35 in their recent league bout against St. Mary's (Stockton, CA)

Next up, the Hornets play the Bishop O'Dowd Dragons (Oakland, CA) in a West Alameda County - Foothill bout, on Tuesday, January 23. Alameda will attempt to upgrade on its 13-4 season record. The Dragons come into the bout with a 12-5 record after their 75-14 league win over Castro Valley (Castro Valley, CA).
