The Huntsville Hornets (Huntsville, TX) basketball knocked off the visiting Porter Spartans (Porter, TX), 42-30 in Friday's league test.

The Hornets (22-7) will now prepare for their test against Lufkin (Lufkin, TX). The Panthers go into the 5A Region II District 16 test with a 7-14 record. In their last test, Lufkin went down by Nacogdoches (Nacogdoches, TX), 45-39, in a league test.

The Spartans now own a 14-14 record. They play next when they travel to Dayton for a 5A Region II District 16 test on Tuesday, January 23. Porter will encounter a Broncos squad coming off a 52-20 league loss to Kingwood Park (Kingwood, TX). The Broncos record now stands at 3-18.
