In Friday's league outing, the Surry County Cougars (Dendron, VA) basketball squad edged the host Southampton Indians (Courtland, VA), by a count of 42-36.
The Cougars (5-13) will now prepare for their outing against Sussex Central (Sussex, VA). The Tigers go into the Tri-Rivers outing with a 3-9 record. In their last outing, Sussex Central was tipped by Windsor (Windsor, VA), 57-27, in a league outing.
The Indians now hold a 7-5 record. They play next when they travel to Windsor for a Tri-Rivers outing on Wednesday, January 24.
