Avonworth Antelopes (Pittsburgh, PA) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting South Allegheny Gladiators (McKeesport, PA), 67-57 in a league bout.

With the win, Avonworth upgrades its record to 7-3 on the season. The Antelopes host Quaker Valley (Leetsdale, PA) to play the Quakers in a WPIAL 4A 4 bout on Tuesday, January 9. The Quakers go into the bout with a record of 6-3.

Next up, the Gladiators play the Montour Spartans (McKees Rocks, PA) in a WPIAL 4A 4 bout, on Friday, January 5. South Allegheny will attempt to upgrade on its 7-2 season record. The Spartans go into the bout with a 7-1 record after their 70-60 league win over West Mifflin (West Mifflin, PA).
