Elma Eagles (Elma, WA) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Hoquiam Grizzlies (Hoquiam, WA), 49-47 in a league bout.

With the victory, Elma upgrades its record to 7-4 on the campaign. The Eagles travel to Napavine (Napavine, WA) to play the Tigers in a non-league bout on Saturday, January 6. The Tigers come into the bout with a record of 10-0. Napavine won 89-44 in their recent league bout against Onalaska (Onalaska, WA)

Next up, the Grizzlies play the Tenino Beavers (Tenino, WA) in a 1A Evergreen bout, on Thursday, January 4. Hoquiam will attempt to upgrade on its 6-4 season record. The Beavers come into the bout with a 7-3 record after their 59-46 league win over Montesano (Montesano, WA).
