East Buchanan Buccaneers (Winthrop, IA) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Alburnett Pirates (Alburnett, IA), 58-45 in a league bout.

With the win, East Buchanan upgrades its record to 7-4 on the season. The Buccaneers travel to North Cedar (Stanwood, IA) to play the Knights in a non-league bout on Friday, January 5. The Knights go into the bout with a record of 4-7. North Cedar lost 67-22 in their recent league bout against Tipton (Tipton, IA)

Next up, the Pirates play the Beckman Trailblazers (Dyersville, IA) in a non-league bout, on Thursday, January 4. Alburnett will attempt to upgrade on its 2-8 season record. The Trailblazers go into the bout with a 2-7 record after their 56-33 league loss to West Delaware (Manchester, IA).
