The Pioneers enter the game with a 14-1 record after their 65-52 non-league win over South Greene (Greeneville, TN).

With the defeat, Hampton moves to 5-7 on the year. The Bulldogs host Happy Valley (Elizabethton, TN) to encounter the Warriors in a 2A District 1 test on Tuesday, January 9. The Warriors go into the test with a record of 4-5. Happy Valley won 44-37 in their recent non-league test against Unaka (Elizabethton, TN)
