Vernon Lions (Vernon, TX) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Henrietta Bearcats (Henrietta, TX), 63-54 in a league bout.

With the victory, Vernon upgrades its record to 12-13 on the campaign. The Lions host City View (Wichita Falls, TX) to play the Mustangs in a 3A Region I District 7 bout on Friday, January 5. The Mustangs come into the bout with a record of 9-11. City View won 69-39 in their recent non-league bout against Snyder (Snyder, TX)

Next up, the Bearcats play the Bowie Jackrabbits (Bowie, TX) in a 3A Region I District 7 bout, on Friday, January 5. Henrietta will attempt to upgrade on its 1-12 season record. The Jackrabbits come into the bout with a 3-14 record after their 37-35 league loss to Jacksboro (Jacksboro, TX).
