Magnolia West Mustangs (Magnolia, TX) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Montgomery Bears (Montgomery, TX), 54-42 in a league bout.

With the victory, Magnolia West upgrades its record to 14-9 on the campaign. The Mustangs travel to College Station (College Station, TX) to play the Cougars in a 5A Region III District 21 bout on Friday, January 5. The Cougars come into the bout with a record of 8-15. College Station lost 33-25 in their recent league bout against A&M Consolidated (College Station, TX)

Next up, the Bears play the Brenham Cubs (Brenham, TX) in a 5A Region III District 21 bout, on Friday, January 5. Montgomery will attempt to upgrade on its 18-6 season record. The Cubs come into the bout with a 15-11 record after their 35-30 league win over Lake Creek (Montgomery, TX).
