Alcoa Tornadoes (Alcoa, TN) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host Union County Patriots (Maynardville, TN), 86-76 in a league bout.

With the victory, Alcoa upgrades its record to 10-6 on the campaign. The Tornadoes host Sevier County (Sevierville, TN) to play the Smoky Bears in a non-league bout on Tuesday, January 24. The Smoky Bears come into the bout with a record of 9-9. Sevier County lost 61-53 in their recent non-league bout against Morristown-Hamblen East (Morristown, TN)

Next up, the Patriots play the Gatlinburg-Pittman Highlanders (Gatlinburg, TN) in a 2A District 2 bout, on Monday, January 23. Union County will attempt to upgrade on its 6-6 season record. The Highlanders come into the bout with a 15-4 record after their 81-51 league win over Pigeon Forge (Pigeon Forge, TN).
