Virginia High School Basketball - Halifax County can't hold off Patrick County

The Patrick County Cougars basketball team scored 59 points and restricted the host Halifax County Comets to 53 in the Cougars league victory on Friday.

The Cougars now sport a 9-8 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Bassett for a Piedmont contest on Tuesday, January 24. Patrick County will battle a Bengals team coming off a 59-58 league loss to Tunstall (Dry Fork, VA). The Bengals record now stands at 10-7.

The Comets (4-11) will now prepare for their contest against Mecklenburg County (Baskerville, VA). The Phoenix come into the Freelance contest with a 5-10 record. In their last contest, Mecklenburg County was nudged by Martinsville (Martinsville, VA), 60-36, in a league contest.
