Malakoff Tigers (Malakoff, TX) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad bounce the visiting Rice Bulldogs (Rice, TX), 53-28 in a league bout.

With the victory, Malakoff upgrades its record to 4-5 on the campaign. The Tigers travel to Mildred (Corsicana, TX) to play the Eagles in a 3A Region III District 18 bout on Tuesday, January 24. The Eagles come into the bout with a record of 9-15. Mildred lost 52-42 in their recent league bout against Palmer (Palmer, TX)

Next up, the Bulldogs play the Blooming Grove Lions (Blooming Grove, TX) in a 3A Region III District 18 bout, on Tuesday, January 24. Rice will attempt to upgrade on its 3-16 season record. The Lions come into the bout with a 10-7 record after their 56-54 league loss to Kemp (Kemp, TX).
