Ocracoke Dolphins (Ocracoke, NC) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Mattamuskeet Lakers (Swan Quarter, NC), 49-36 in a league bout.

With the victory, Ocracoke upgrades its record to 7-6 on the campaign. The Dolphins host Bear Grass Charter (Williamston, NC) to play the Bears in a 1A Conference 1 bout on Tuesday, January 24. The Bears come into the bout with a record of 11-6. Bear Grass Charter lost 57-43 in their recent league bout against Columbia (Columbia, NC)

Next up, the Lakers play the Cape Hatteras Hurricanes (Buxton, NC) in a 1A Conference 1 bout, on Tuesday, January 24. Mattamuskeet will attempt to upgrade on its 5-9 season record. The Hurricanes come into the bout with a 3-7 record after their 60-44 non-league win over Hobgood Charter (Hobgood, NC).
