Monmouth United Red Storm (Monmouth, IL) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] Spartans (Woodhull, IL), 76-72 in a league bout.

With the victory, Monmouth United upgrades its record to 10-11 on the campaign. The Red Storm travel to Princeville (Princeville, IL) to play the Princes in a Lincoln Trail bout on Tuesday, January 24. The Princes come into the bout with a record of 11-7.

Next up, the Spartans play the Stark County Rebels (Toulon, IL) in a Lincoln Trail bout, on Tuesday, January 24. Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] will attempt to upgrade on its 5-16 season record. The Rebels come into the bout with a 9-8 record after their 66-47 league win over ROWVA/Williamsfield (Oneida, IL).
