Providence Grove Patriots (Franklinville, NC) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Uwharrie Charter Eagles (Asheboro, NC), 70-65 in a league bout.

With the victory, Providence Grove upgrades its record to 6-13 on the campaign. The Patriots host Southwestern Randolph (Asheboro, NC) to play the Cougars in a 1A/2A Conference 31 bout on Tuesday, January 24. The Cougars come into the bout with a record of 9-9. Southwestern Randolph won 59-50 in their recent league bout against Trinity (Trinity, NC)

Next up, the Eagles play the Asheboro Blue Comets (Asheboro, NC) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, January 24. Uwharrie Charter will attempt to upgrade on its 5-13 season record. The Blue Comets come into the bout with a 12-4 record after their 76-30 league win over Montgomery Central (Troy, NC).
