Catoctin Cougars (Thurmont, MD) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Middletown Knights (Middletown, MD), 53-36 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Catoctin upgrades its record to 10-3 on the season. The Cougars travel to Smithsburg (Smithsburg, MD) to play the Leopards in a Central Maryland bout on Tuesday, January 24. The Leopards go into the bout with a record of 4-8. Smithsburg won 44-35 in their recent league bout against Brunswick (Brunswick, MD)

Next up, the Knights play the Boonsboro Warriors (Boonsboro, MD) in a Central Maryland bout, on Tuesday, January 24. Middletown will attempt to upgrade on its 5-7 season record. The Warriors go into the bout with a 2-7 record after their 65-40 league loss to Williamsport (Williamsport, MD).
