Maypearl Panthers (Maypearl, TX) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting West Trojans (West, TX), 34-29 in a league bout.

With the victory, Maypearl upgrades its record to 19-10 on the campaign. The Panthers travel to Clifton (Clifton, TX) to play the Cubs in a 3A Region III District 17 bout on Tuesday, January 24. The Cubs come into the bout with a record of 10-12. Clifton lost 40-22 in their recent league bout against Grandview (Grandview, TX)

Next up, the Trojans play the Whitney Wildcats (Whitney, TX) in a 3A Region III District 17 bout, on Tuesday, January 24. West will attempt to upgrade on its 7-12 season record. The Wildcats come into the bout with a 11-14 record after their 38-24 league loss to Maypearl (Maypearl, TX).
