North Carolina High School Basketball - Surry Central nips West Wilkes

Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Surry Central Golden Eagles (Dobson, NC) and the host West Wilkes Blackhawks (Millers Creek, NC), saw Surry Central's basketball squad hold off West Wilkes by a count of 48-46.

With the victory, Surry Central upgrades its record to 8-7 on the campaign. The Golden Eagles host Wilkes Central (Wilkesboro, NC) to play the Eagles in a 2A Conference 37 challenge on Tuesday, January 24. The Eagles come into the challenge with a record of 6-12. Wilkes Central lost 54-37 in their recent league challenge against North Surry (Mount Airy, NC)

Next up, the Blackhawks play the Forbush Falcons (East Bend, NC) in a 2A Conference 37 challenge, on Tuesday, January 24. West Wilkes will attempt to upgrade on its 4-13 season record. The Falcons come into the challenge with a 12-6 record after their 69-54 non-league win over Starmount (Boonville, NC).
