In Friday's league outing, the Avery County Vikings (Newland, NC) basketball squad beat the host Draughn Wildcats (Valdese, NC), by a count of 55-42.
The Vikings (11-1) will now prepare for their outing against Mountain Heritage (Burnsville, NC). The Cougars go into the non-league outing with a 7-5 record. In their last outing, Mountain Heritage defeated Rosman (Rosman, NC), 41-36, in a league outing.
The Wildcats now hold a 6-5 record. They put it on the line next when they host Mitchell for a non-league match on Tuesday, January 24.
