Gardner-South Wilmington Panthers (Gardner, IL) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Clifton Central Comets (Clifton, IL), 49-45 in a league bout.

With the win, Gardner-South Wilmington upgrades its record to 4-1 on the season. The Panthers host Illinois Lutheran (Crete, IL) to clash with the Chargers in a non-league bout on Thursday, February 16. The Chargers go into the bout with a record of 2-10.

Next up, the Comets clash with the Wilmington Wildcats (Wilmington, IL) in a bout, on Friday, January 27. Clifton Central will attempt to upgrade on its 5-8 season record. The Wildcats go into the bout with a 2-0 record after their 49-30 non-league win over Grant Park (Grant Park, IL).
