Calais Blue Devils (Calais, ME) backers were in high spirits Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the host Penobscot Valley Howlers (Howland, ME), 49-27 in a league bout.

With the win, Calais upgrades its record to 9-2 on the season. The Blue Devils host Machias (Machias, ME) to play the Bulldogs in a C North bout on Tuesday, January 23. The Bulldogs go into the bout with a record of 11-1. Machias won 60-36 in their recent non-league bout against Jonesport-Beals (Jonesport, ME)

Next up, the Howlers play the Piscataquis Pirates (Guilford, ME) in a C North bout, on Tuesday, January 23. Penobscot Valley will attempt to upgrade on its 5-7 season record. The Pirates go into the bout with a 6-5 record after their 51-40 league win over Penquis Valley (Milo, ME).
