The crowd at Monday's league challenge between the St. Monica Mariners (Santa Monica, CA) and the visiting Serra Cavaliers (Gardena, CA), observed St. Monica's basketball team overwhelm Serra by a score of 82-56.

The Mariners (15-8) will now prepare for their challenge against St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy (Downey, CA). The Warriors come into the Del Rey challenge with a 12-8 record. In their last challenge, St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy was routed by St. Anthony (Long Beach, CA), 58-57, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Cavaliers battle the St. Paul Swordsmen (Santa Fe Springs, CA) in a Del Rey challenge, on Friday, January 24. Serra will attempt to improve on its 11-12 season record. The Swordsmen come into the challenge with a 14-9 record after their 85-72 league win over St. Bernard (Playa del Rey, CA).
