In Friday's league outing, the Independence Tigers (Independence, LA) basketball squad felled the host Varnado Wildcats (Angie, LA), by a margin of 67-54.
The Tigers (3-7) will now prepare for their outing against St. Helena College and Career Academy (Greensburg, LA). The Hawks go into the 2A District 9 outing with a 6-6 record. In their last outing, St. Helena College and Career Academy was beaten by Istrouma (Baton Rouge, LA), 84-66, in a non-league outing.
The Wildcats now own a 7-11 record. They play next when they travel to Kentwood for a 2A District 9 outing on Tuesday, January 25. Varnado will clash with a Kangaroos squad coming off a 55-37 league loss to Pine (Franklinton, LA). The Kangaroos record now stands at 3-6.
