DeSmet Bulldogs (DeSmet, SD) backers were pleased Saturday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host Lower Brule Sioux (Lower Brule, SD), 61-53 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, DeSmet upgrades its record to 9-2 on the campaign. The Bulldogs host Canistota (Canistota, SD) to play the Hawks in a non-league bout on Thursday, January 26. The Hawks come into the bout with a record of 5-4.

Next up, the Sioux play the Takini Skyhawks (Howes, SD) in a non-league bout, on Thursday, January 26. Lower Brule will attempt to upgrade on its 9-3 season record. The Skyhawks come into the bout with a 0-8 record after their 77-53 non-league loss to Flandreau Indian (Flandreau, SD).
