Gatewood Gators (Eatonton, GA) backers were in high spirits Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the host Edmund Burke Academy Spartans (Waynesboro, GA), 96-51 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Gatewood upgrades its record to 13-3 on the season. The Gators travel to Piedmont Academy (Monticello, GA) to play the Cougars in a GIAA AA Region 2 bout on Tuesday, January 24. The Cougars go into the bout with a record of 3-12. Piedmont Academy lost 58-46 in their recent non-league bout against Robert Toombs Christian Academy (Lyons, GA)

Next up, the Spartans play the Augusta Prep Day Cavaliers (Augusta, GA) in a GIAA AA Region 4 bout, on Tuesday, January 24. Edmund Burke Academy will attempt to upgrade on its 5-13 season record. The Cavaliers go into the bout with a 3-13 record after their 64-40 non-league loss to Fox Creek (North Augusta, SC).
