In Saturday's non-league match, the visiting Gatewood Gators basketball team scored a tight 45-40 triumph over the Edmund Burke Academy Spartans.
In their next game, the Gators face the Piedmont Academy Cougars (Monticello, GA) in a GIAA AA Region 2 match, on Tuesday, January 24. Gatewood will attempt to move on its 14-4 season record. The Cougars enter the match with a 10-6 record after their 40-31 non-league win over Robert Toombs Christian Academy (Lyons, GA).
With the defeat, Edmund Burke Academy moves to 10-8 on the year. The Spartans travel to Augusta Prep Day (Augusta, GA) to face the Cavaliers in a GIAA AA Region 4 match on Tuesday, January 24. The Cavaliers enter the match with a record of 1-10. Augusta Prep Day lost 28-23 in their recent non-league match against Fox Creek (North Augusta, SC)
