The crowd at Tuesday's league challenge between the Starkville Academy Volunteers (Starkville, MS) and the visiting Bayou Academy Colts (Cleveland, MS), observed Starkville Academy's basketball team knock off Bayou Academy by a score of 54-40.

The Volunteers (16-6) will now prepare for their challenge against Rossville Christian Academy (Rossville, TN). The Wolves come into the MAIS 5A District 1 challenge with a 17-8 record. In their last challenge, Rossville Christian Academy prevailed over Pillow Academy (Greenwood, MS), 92-59, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Colts encounter the Heritage Academy Patriots (Columbus, MS) in a MAIS 5A District 1 challenge, on Friday, January 24. Bayou Academy will attempt to improve on its 3-12 season record. The Patriots come into the challenge with a 16-5 record after their 46-45 league win over Magnolia Heights (Senatobia, MS).
