The crowd at Tuesday's league challenge between the South Stokes Sauras (Walnut Cove, NC) and the host Elkin Buckin' Elks (Elkin, NC), observed South Stokes's basketball team overwhelm Elkin by a score of 69-48.

The Sauras (13-2) will now prepare for their challenge against Alleghany (Sparta, NC). The Trojans come into the 1A Northwest challenge with a 7-8 record. In their last challenge, Alleghany was routed by East Wilkes (Ronda, NC), 55-48, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Buckin' Elks encounter the West Wilkes Blackhawks (Millers Creek, NC) in a non-league challenge, on Wednesday, January 22. Elkin will attempt to improve on its 7-8 season record. The Blackhawks come into the challenge with a 5-11 record after their 63-62 league loss to East Surry (Pilot Mountain, NC).
