The crowd at Wednesday's league challenge between the Cherryville Ironmen (Cherryville, NC) and the visiting East Gaston Warriors (Mt. Holly, NC), observed Cherryville's basketball team knock off East Gaston by a score of 47-36.

The Ironmen (9-10) will now prepare for their challenge against Bessemer City (Bessemer City, NC). The Yellow Jackets come into the 1A/2A Southern Piedmont challenge with a 9-9 record. In their last challenge, Bessemer City was knocked off by Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy (Mooresboro, NC), 46-23, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Warriors encounter the Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy Gryphons (Mooresboro, NC) in a 1A/2A Southern Piedmont challenge, on Friday, January 31. East Gaston will attempt to improve on its 2-17 season record. The Gryphons come into the challenge with a 12-6 record after their 58-41 league win over Shelby (Shelby, NC).
