The Rappahannock Raiders (Warsaw, VA) basketball nipped the host Essex Trojans (Tappahannock, VA), 50-48 in Monday's league test.

The Raiders (5-8) will now prepare for their test against Northumberland (Heathsville, VA). The Indians go into the Northern Neck test with a 6-3 record. In their last test, Northumberland got by Mathews (Mathews, VA), 67-54, in a non-league test.

The Trojans now own a 2-7 record. They play next when they travel to Westmoreland for a Northern Neck test on Tuesday, January 23. Essex will encounter a Eagles squad coming off a 53-47 league win over Colonial Beach (Colonial Beach, VA). The Eagles record now stands at 3-5.
