Morton Panthers (Morton, MS) backers were in high spirits Monday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Mendenhall Tigers (Mendenhall, MS), 49-48 in a league bout.

With the win, Morton upgrades its record to 16-6 on the season. The Panthers host Forest (Forest, MS) to clash with the Bearcats in a 4A Region 5 bout on Tuesday, January 23. The Bearcats go into the bout with a record of 9-11. Forest lost 60-32 in their recent league bout against Morton (Morton, MS)

Next up, the Tigers clash with the Quitman Panthers (Quitman, MS) in a 4A Region 5 bout, on Friday, January 26. Mendenhall will attempt to upgrade on its 17-5 season record. The Panthers go into the bout with a 16-6 record after their 71-29 league win over Northeast Jones (Laurel, MS).
