Monroe Central Seminoles (Woodsfield, OH) backers were pleased Monday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting River Pilots (Hannibal, OH), 64-62 in a league bout.

With the victory, Monroe Central upgrades its record to 14-3 on the campaign. The Seminoles host Catholic Central (Steubenville, OH) to play the Crusaders in a non-league bout on Wednesday, January 24. The Crusaders come into the bout with a record of 9-6. Catholic Central won 55-48 in their recent non-league bout against East Liverpool (East Liverpool, OH)

Next up, the Pilots play the Barnesville Shamrocks (Barnesville, OH) in a Mid-Ohio Valley bout, on Thursday, January 25. River will attempt to upgrade on its 13-3 season record. The Shamrocks come into the bout with a 6-10 record after their 67-13 non-league win over Bridgeport (Bridgeport, OH).
