Washington Patriots (Charles Town, WV) backers were pleased Monday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Musselman Applemen (Inwood, WV), 45-39 in a league bout.

With the victory, Washington upgrades its record to 5-5 on the campaign. The Patriots travel to Hedgesville (Hedgesville, WV) to play the Eagles in a Eastern Panhandle bout on Thursday, January 25. The Eagles come into the bout with a record of 5-6. Hedgesville won 58-8 in their recent non-league bout against Wakefield Country Day (Flint Hill, VA)

Next up, the Applemen play the Moorefield Yellow Jackets (Moorefield, WV) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, January 23. Musselman will attempt to upgrade on its 9-3 season record. The Yellow Jackets come into the bout with a 6-6 record after their 44-27 non-league win over Frankfort (Ridgeley, WV).
