The crowd at Wednesday's league challenge between the South El Monte Eagles (South El Monte, CA) and the visiting El Monte Lions (El Monte, CA), observed South El Monte's basketball team overwhelm El Monte by a score of 50-10.

The Eagles (8-11) will now prepare for their challenge against Gabrielino (San Gabriel, CA). The Eagles come into the Mission Valley challenge with a 10-9 record. In their last challenge, Gabrielino trounced Marshall (Pasadena, CA), 26-18, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Lions encounter the Arroyo Knights (El Monte, CA) in a Mission Valley challenge, on Friday, January 24. El Monte will attempt to improve on its 1-14 season record. The Knights come into the challenge with a 4-16 record after their 39-18 league loss to Gabrielino (San Gabriel, CA).
