The crowd at Wednesday's league challenge between the Merrill Vandals (Merrill, MI) and the visiting Montabella Mustangs (Blanchard, MI), observed Merrill's basketball team overwhelm Montabella by a score of 57-36.

The Vandals (6-4) will now prepare for their challenge against Vestaburg (Vestaburg, MI). The Wolverines come into the Mid-State challenge with a 2-8 record. In their last challenge, Vestaburg trounced Coleman (Coleman, MI), 57-22, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Mustangs encounter the Ashley Bears (Ashley, MI) in a Mid-State challenge, on Friday, January 24. Montabella will attempt to improve on its 4-6 season record. The Bears come into the challenge with a 2-8 record after their 69-32 league loss to Sacred Heart Academy (Mt. Pleasant, MI).
