The East Wilkes Cardinals (Ronda, NC) basketball nipped the host North Wilkes Vikings (Hays, NC), 55-51 in Monday's non-league test.
The Cardinals (7-10) will now prepare for their test against Elkin (Elkin, NC). The Buckin' Elks go into the 1A Conference 36 test with a 3-13 record. In their last test, Elkin was tipped by Alleghany (Sparta, NC), 68-36, in a league test.
The Vikings now own a 5-11 record. They play next when they travel to Millennium for a non-league test on Wednesday, January 25. North Wilkes will encounter a Lions squad coming off a 75-41 non-league loss to Oak Ridge Military Academy (Oak Ridge, NC). The Lions record now stands at 2-18.
