Benjamin Russell Wildcats (Alexander City, AL) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Calera Eagles (Calera, AL), 66-57 in a league bout.

With the victory, Benjamin Russell upgrades its record to 10-3 on the campaign. The Wildcats host Chilton County (Clanton, AL) to play the Tigers in a 6A Area 5 bout on Thursday, January 25. The Tigers come into the bout with a record of 16-15. Chilton County won 64-59 in their recent non-league bout against Marbury (Marbury, AL)

Next up, the Eagles play the Briarwood Christian Lions (Birmingham, AL) in a non-league bout, on Friday, January 26. Calera will attempt to upgrade on its 4-22 season record. The Lions come into the bout with a 14-11 record after their 62-35 non-league win over Bessemer City (Bessemer, AL).
