The George Wythe Maroons basketball team scored 73 points and restricted the visiting Bland County Bears to 44 in the Maroons league victory on Tuesday.

The Maroons now sport a 11-4 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Fort Chiswell for a Mountain Empire match on Friday, January 26. George Wythe will meet a Pioneers team coming off a 71-35 league loss to Auburn (Riner, VA). The Pioneers record now stands at 8-8.

With the defeat, Bland County moves to 5-11 on the year. The Bears travel to Twin Valley (Pilgrims Knob, VA) to meet the Panthers in a non-league match on Wednesday, January 24. The Panthers enter the match with a record of 3-9.
