Porter Spartans (Porter, TX) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Dayton Broncos (Dayton, TX), 54-44 in a league bout.

With the victory, Porter upgrades its record to 15-12 on the campaign. The Spartans host Lufkin (Lufkin, TX) to play the Panthers in a 5A Region II District 16 bout on Friday, January 26. The Panthers come into the bout with a record of 17-11.

Next up, the Broncos play the Nacogdoches Dragons (Nacogdoches, TX) in a 5A Region II District 16 bout, on Friday, January 26. Dayton will attempt to upgrade on its 15-11 season record. The Dragons come into the bout with a 17-10 record after their 57-42 league win over Kingwood Park (Kingwood, TX).
