The Starkville Yellowjackets basketball team scored 54 points and restricted the visiting Germantown Mavericks to 44 in the Yellowjackets league victory on Tuesday.

The Yellowjackets now sport a 12-9 record. They put it on the line next when they host Tupelo for a 7A Region 2 contest on Thursday, January 25. Starkville will battle a Golden Wave team coming off a 69-53 league loss to Clinton (Clinton, MS). The Golden Wave record now stands at 5-12.

The Mavericks (8-14) will now prepare for their contest against Madison Central (Madison, MS). The Jaguars come into the 7A Region 2 contest with a 16-8 record. In their last contest, Madison Central was defeated by Murrah (Jackson, MS), 61-54, in a league contest.
