Texas High School Basketball - Meridian can't hold off Walnut Springs

The Walnut Springs Hornets basketball team scored 61 points and held the visiting Meridian Yellowjackets to 58 in the Hornets league triumph on Tuesday.
The Hornets now sport a 7-6 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Iredell for a 1A Region III District 20 contest on Friday, January 26. Walnut Springs will battle a Dragons team coming off a 58-54 league loss to Morgan (Morgan, TX). The Dragons record now stands at 7-12.
The Yellowjackets (11-9) will now prepare for their contest against Covington (Covington, TX). The Owls enter the 1A Region III District 20 contest with a 16-10 record. In their last contest, Covington nudged Kopperl (Kopperl, TX), 50-39, in a league contest.
