Arkansas High School Basketball - Salem can't hold off Newport

The Newport Greyhounds basketball team scored 49 points and held the host Salem Greyhounds to 48 in the Greyhounds league triumph on Tuesday.
The Greyhounds now sport a 4-16 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Mountain View for a 3A Region 2 contest on Friday, January 26. Newport will battle a Yellowjackets team coming off a 58-43 league win over Salem (Salem, AR). The Yellowjackets record now stands at 18-6.
The Greyhounds (3-13) will now prepare for their contest against Mountain View (Mountain View, AR). The Yellowjackets enter the 3A Region 2 contest with a 17-6 record. In their last contest, Mountain View nudged Hoxie (Hoxie, AR), 76-40, in a league contest.
