The Irion County Hornets basketball team (Mertzon, TX), was nudged 33-30 in Tuesday's league battle with the host Blackwell Hornets (Blackwell, TX)
The Hornets now possess a 21-8 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Bronte for a 1A Region II District 11 battle on Friday, January 26. Blackwell will battle a Longhorns team coming off a 41-19 league win over Veribest (Veribest, TX). The Longhorns record now stands at 14-11.
The Hornets (18-8) will now prepare for their battle against Robert Lee (Robert Lee, TX). The Steers come into the 1A Region II District 11 battle with a 22-7 record. In their last battle, Robert Lee edged Garden City (Garden City, TX), 60-27, in a league battle.
