In Thursday's non-league contest, the host Ripley Tigers basketball team scored a good 53-42 triumph over the Walnut Wildcats.

The Tigers (15-7) will now prepare for their contest against Itawamba Agricultural (Fulton, MS). The Indians go into the 4A Region 1 contest with a 10-7 record. In their last contest, Itawamba Agricultural topped Tishomingo County (Iuka, MS), 75-44, in a league contest.

In their next game, the Wildcats battle the Hatley Tigers (Amory, MS) in a 2A Region 1 contest, on Friday, January 24. Walnut will attempt to better on its 12-10 season record. The Tigers go into the contest with a 7-12 record after their 54-52 league loss to Hamilton (Hamilton, MS).
