The Independence Wildcats routed the visiting Ashland Blue Devils basketball squad by a count of 59-29 in Thursday's non-league battle.
With the victory, Independence advances its record to 17-7 on the year. The Wildcats travel to Coahoma County (Clarksdale, MS) to meet the Red Panthers in a 3A Region 2 battle on Tuesday, January 28. The Red Panthers enter the battle with a record of 21-4. Coahoma County won 54-43 in their recent league battle against Rosa Fort (Tunica, MS)
The Blue Devils now own a 3-17 record. They put it on the line next when they host Jumpertown for a 1A Region 2 battle on Friday, January 24. Ashland will meet a Cardinals squad coming off a 68-54 league win over Pine Grove (Ripley, MS). The Cardinals record now stands at 12-10.
