In Thursday's league contest, the host Franklin Regional Panthers basketball team scored a big 68-24 triumph over the Gateway Gators.

The Panthers (11-4) will now prepare for their contest against Fox Chapel (Pittsburgh, PA). The Foxes go into the WPIAL 5A 1 contest with a 10-5 record. In their last contest, Fox Chapel smashed Gateway (Monroeville, PA), 53-23, in a league contest.

In their next game, the Gators battle the Quaker Valley Quakers (Leetsdale, PA) in a non-league contest, on Saturday, January 25. Gateway will attempt to better on its 0-13 season record. The Quakers go into the contest with a 8-8 record after their 62-28 league loss to Our Lady of the Sacred Heart (Coraopolis, PA).
