The Akron-Westfield Westerners basketball team (Akron, IA), was nudged 50-48 in Tuesday's league battle with the host Hinton Blackhawks (Hinton, IA)
The Blackhawks now sport a 9-5 record. They put it on the line next when they host Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn for a War Eagle battle on Friday, January 27. Hinton will battle a Hawks team coming off a 57-50 non-league loss to Boyden-Hull (Hull, IA). The Hawks record now stands at 7-6.
The Westerners (5-11) will now prepare for their battle against Harris-Lake Park (Lake Park, IA). The Wolves come into the War Eagle battle with a 2-9 record. In their last battle, Harris-Lake Park was nudged by St. Mary's (Remsen, IA), 79-31, in a league battle.
