The Athens Golden Eagles (Athens, AL) basketball nipped the visiting Oakwood Academy Mustangs (Huntsville, AL), 47-44 in Tuesday's non-league test.
The Golden Eagles (16-2) will now prepare for their test against Columbia (Huntsville, AL). The Eagles go into the 6A Area 15 test with a 10-13 record. In their last test, Columbia was tipped by Muscle Shoals (Muscle Shoals, AL), 61-53, in a league test.
The Mustangs now own a 13-6 record. They play next when they travel to St. John Paul II for a non-league test on Thursday, January 26. Oakwood Academy will encounter a Falcons squad coming off a 42-33 non-league loss to Madison County (Gurley, AL). The Falcons record now stands at 3-15.
