Covington Chargers (Covington, TN) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Brighton Cardinals (Brighton, TN), 53-37 in a league bout.

With the win, Covington upgrades its record to 7-8 on the season. The Chargers host Bolivar Central (Bolivar, TN) to clash with the Tigers in a non-league bout on Friday, January 27. The Tigers go into the bout with a record of 11-8. Bolivar Central won 82-37 in their recent league bout against Madison (Jackson, TN)

Next up, the Cardinals clash with the Haywood Tomcats (Brownsville, TN) in a 3A District 14 bout, on Friday, January 27. Brighton will attempt to upgrade on its 8-11 season record. The Tomcats go into the bout with a 20-4 record after their 48-39 league win over Ripley (Ripley, TN).
