The Independence Eagles basketball team scored 78 points and restricted the visiting Columbia Central Lions to 56 in the Eagles league victory on Tuesday.

The Eagles now sport a 19-3 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Summit for a 4A District 12 contest on Friday, January 27. Independence will battle a Spartans team coming off a 56-45 league loss to Nolensville (Nolensville, TN). The Spartans record now stands at 9-13.

The Lions (3-15) will now prepare for their contest against Hillwood (Nashville, TN). The Hilltoppers come into the non-league contest with a 16-7 record. In their last contest, Hillwood was routed by Central (Murfreesboro, TN), 49-46, in a league contest.
